Latindex offers four databases with information on scholarly journals published in Ibero-America:

1) Directory. Available since 1997, records the existence of journals with academic content published in the countries of the region. Each record provides basic identification data such as title, beginning year, publishing institution, discipline of specialization, print-run, price and contact details. By October 2012 there were 21,000 registered journals (current or ceased) published in 32 countries and territories. It also includes journals published by international institutions with Ibero-American member countries such as the Organization of the American States (OAS), Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), or the Pan-American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH), among others. Under the name of “Latin Americanists” (latinoamericanistas) it also includes those journals with content on the region but published in European countries.

2) Catalog. Set online in 2002, is a subset of the journals included in the Directory. Only those journals that meet a minimum of the editorial criteria established by Latindex are included in the catalog, after checking the number of editorial features fulfilled by the publication. These criteria are available for consultation on the Latindex website. The catalog was not created as an assessment instrument itself, but as a referral service specializing in editorial quality of journals. By October 2012, the catalog contained more than 6,400 titles.

3) E-journals. Created in 2002, allows the automatic location of the publications included in the directory that have an online version. It provides data on the type of access and formats in which the journal is presented as well as its temporary coverage, providing a link to the journal and its full text articles available. By October 2012, this directory registers more than 4,700 titles.

4) Portal de Portales. Established in 2011, constitutes a macro portal that gathers and gives access to the contents of a selection of Ibero-American journals available in 18 virtual journal collections created in the region by various institutions:  Dialnete-RevistasLamjolPepsicRacóRedalycRevistas de la Universidad de ChilePortal de Revistas Científicas y Arbitradas de la UNAMSaber ULA, Journals of the   UFPR aas well as several national sites of the  SciElo network such as ArgentinaBrazilChileColombiaCubaEspañaMexico,  and Peru.

By October 2012 it provides access to more than 1,200,000 full text articles from more than 3,000 open access journals. Participating portals make use of the OA Harvester 2 developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) which allows metadata harvesting.
